For our current science topic, Evolution and Inheritance, we have been exploring natural selection—looking closely at how the beaks of finches on the Galápagos Islands have adapted over time to help them eat the food available to them. We tried to recreate this in our classroom and quickly discovered that picking up paperclips with a teaspoon is quite the challenge! The investigation helped us understand how important it is for living things to adapt to their environment in order to access the nutrients they need.
