World Book Day in Kestrel
Back
It was incredible to see the effort that Kestrel Class made with their costumes for World Book Day. We had characters from Redwall, Percy Jackson, Emma, Anne of Green Gables, Dork Diaries, Alex Rider, a tribute from The Hunger Games and The Accidental Primeminster to name a few. It provided a brilliant platform to share recommendations and celebrate our love of books.
We also had the joy of learning about the poet, Sylvia Plath by exploring the brilliant Bed Book. Listening to a variety of creative yet cosy beds including a bed on an elephant, a bed in a submarine and a tank-bed (!), which inspired the children to create their own ingenious beds. Many included snack stations!

Kestrel Class absolutely outdid themselves with their World Book Day costumes this year! We were treated to an incredible line‑up of characters—from Redwall and Percy Jackson to Emma, Anne of Green Gables, Dork Diaries, Alex Rider, a Hunger Games tribute, and even The Accidental Prime Minister, just to name a few. It made for a brilliant day of book‑chat, recommendations, and celebrating the stories we love.
We also had the delight of diving into the wonderfully whimsical Bed Book by Sylvia Plath. The children loved discovering all the imaginative (and very cosy!) beds—from a bed riding atop an elephant to a submarine bed and even a tank‑bed. Inspired, they set about designing their own ingenious creations… many of which, quite sensibly, included snack stations.
