These past few weeks, Year 5 and 6 have been looking at the work of Grayson Perry in art, paying particular attention to his use of textiles. Inspired by his work 'Map of Days', we challenged the students to create their own map of wherever they call home and track their important journeys onto it.

To achieve this, they have had to go through many stages. First they found their maps and chose their journeys. Then they had to dye their piece of fabric before painting the water on with acrylic paints. The final (and most difficult) step was to sew on their important journeys and a compass alognside it.

See pictures of them hard at work, focusing on making their stitches neat and tidy. It has been an amazing projects and I am sure many will be sad that it is coming to and end!
