Today in Hawk Class, pupils learnt about everyday life as a Viking.  They made wattle and daub walls which was what the Vikings used when building the longhouses that they lived in.  Wattle and daub is a building method used in ancient times such as the Bronze and Iron Ages and the Anglo Saxon and Viking periods, where walls were made of a woven lattice of sticks (wattle) and plastered with a mixture of mud, clay, sand and animal dung (daub). We used skewers and straws for the 'wattle' and a flour and water paste for the 'daub'.
