Yesterday evening, the girls' football squad travelled to the depths of Somerset to play in the Norton Hill Football festival.  In all, the girls played four games, winning two and losing two.

It was a determined performance from our girls in their first ever tournament in which they played with great enthusiasm and enjoyment and even scored three goals!

The first game (against Welton) was heading towards a goalless draw until Miya skilfully turned the ball in with her left foot, giving us a first ever victory! But the most exciting match would prove to be against Midsomer Norton. After we struck the base of the post (so close Phoebe!) Midsomer Norton took the lead. Yet this spurred on the girls in blue to even greater feats: first, Phoebe struck home - a low shot which gave the keeper no chance - and then, with only seconds remaining, Miya looped the ball over the keeper's head and thanks to a VAR decision (courtesy of Mr Bentley-Taylor) the goal was awarded.

With the lights now on, we played our final game vs St Nicholas. Despite losing, the girls were gracious in defeat and are looking forward to more matches as a team.  Well done girls.

Results:

v Welton 1-0 (Miya)

v Peasdown 0-3

v Midsomer Norton 2-1 (Phoebe, Miya)

v St Nicholas 0-2
