Girls' Heroics in Football

This morning the girls put in a tremendous effort to reach the semi final stage of the annual girls' football tournament, held as always at Odd Down Sports Ground.

The team worked excellently together and won their first three matches: 3-0, 2-0 and 3-0.

Onto the Quarter Finals where they met St John's of Keynsham.  Despite many chances for St Philip's the games remained goalless - even after extra time. But victory was secured: 2-0 in a nervy penalty shootout!

However, we met out match in the semi final when Castle School proved to be a worthy opponent.  After a stray ball entered the pitch Castle scored a 'goal' , but it was rightly disallowed. Minutes later at St Philip's were behind, the time the goal standing.

Overall, a wonderful effort from all the girls involved. Onto our Cup semi-final match which takes place at the Rec in town (Away vs Widcombe) on 25th January.
