Over the week, Kestrel Class have been planning and cooking a richly seasoned minestrone soup, served with a marvellous spinach and cheese plaited loaf. We thoroughly enjoyed both preparing and eating the dish. Cutting the vegetables (carrots, onions, celery, calvolo nero and spinach) and kneading the sticky dough was a highlight.

When we finally got to taste our masterpiece most of the class thought it tasted incredible and felt proud of what we had accomplished.

The reviews are in:

Ezra thoroughly enjoyed dipping fluffy bread into the delicious soup.

Adelina was quite surprised because she normally does not like vegetable soup, but she quite enjoyed it.

Ned really liked the soup and bread. The bread had a really cheesy flavour with a hint of spinach.

Marnie thought it was better than expected.

Lucious didn’t think it would have so much flavour but it was exploding with flavours.

Emma’s favourite part of the dish was eating the combination of the bread and soup.

William fervently enjoyed the rich texture of the soup and loved the spinach and cheese bread.

Sophia thought that once she had tasted it, she couldn’t stop.

Aisha loved the taste of the deliciously flavoured soup and bread. I would make it again at home.

Caroline liked the texture of the soup. Usually she doesn’t like tomatoes, but in this they were amazing.

Rose thought it was a total ten out of ten!

Blake thought it was scrumptious because the bread that we made was impressive.

Isabel usually despises carrots- she was worried when we were adding them to the soup- but they tasted delightful.

Reuben thought it was made by a four-star chef.

Mia thought it was a wonderful way to encourage children to eat vegetables because there were lots of greens but she thought it was still really tasty when we mixed it all together.
