Curriculum Intent Statement - Computing

Technology continues to change our lives. We are living in a digital world and the significance of being digitally literate is more prevalent than ever. Through teaching computing, children will be equipped to participate in a rapidly-changing world where work and leisure activities are increasingly transformed by technology. At St Philip’s, children will develop a curiosity, confidence and independence in acquiring the skills to be active participants in a digital era.

We will ensure our pupils become digitally literate through exploring, using and developing their ideas while expressing themselves on a variety of computing platforms. Our children will learn the knowledge, skills and vocabulary needed to create and programme for multiple purposes. They will make cross-curricular links as they produce their own work.

The digital world is full of complexities and our curriculum ensures that pupils leave school with an understanding of e-safety and an awareness of keeping themselves safe and respecting others.
