Eisteddfod
On Friday we celebrated a belated St David’s Day (should be
March 1st) with an Eisteddfod. This went
remarkably well, the children and parents who attended
enjoyed the morning. Congratulations to the Blue team (St
Andrews) for winning the competition. And to the Green team
for winning the house song. My apologies for announcing the
wrong overall winner at the end of the morning…. I was
rather distracted by the sound of one of our children
fainting – the excitement of winning!

School Business
Manager
Congratulations to Mrs Littlewood on achieving the
certificate in school business management. |
HLTA
Congratulations to Mrs East and Mrs Stokes on successfully
achieving the HLTA status (Higher Level Teaching
Assistant). After Easter, both Mrs East and Mrs Stokes will
use their many years of experience, skill and proven ability
to cover classes in the afternoons to release teachers to
Plan, Prepare and Assess lessons. This is called PPA time, a
statutory right of all teachers in the country since 1995 to
10% non teaching time. |

Valentines Cake Sale
Thanks to Mrs East who made a magnificent cake which was
raffled at the cake sale. Well done to Miss Richardson who
won the raffle.
Thanks to the PTA members for organising another successful
cake sale and for all who gave up time to come in and help
with setting up and running the stalls. We raised £195.78. |

SHEEP Week The week
beginning 28th January was SHEEP week at St Philips.
Each day of the week was dedicated to the 5 outcomes:
Safety, Healthy, Enjoyment, Economic awareness & Positive
contribution. Children circulated around the classes
and had visitors to help the children engage in each of
these aspects. Lots of fun was had by all. We intend
to have more themed weeks like this.

Christmas Service 2007
What a fantastic event! The children were
fantastic as they led us through the story of the birth of
Jesus The Saviour. The songs, dances and prayers were
presented by the best kids (and staff) on the planet.
We raised £122.41 for the church Golden Jubilee Fund.
Thanks to all who contributed. |

Year 6 Visit Culverhay for a
Technology Day
The children from
Year 6 visited Culverhay Secondary school and used their
technology facilities to make bridges and solder circuits to
make flashing LED models. |

Busking
We endured the
foul weather and spent an hour singing in Bath town centre
to raise money for CLIC. As a school we have benefited
from CLICs services and we thought we would like to do
something in return. |

Police Security Code Bikes and
Scooters
The Police kindly
came in to school to security code our bikes and scooters.
Children also received information and stickers. For those
who forgot or for those who may get a bike or scooter for
Christmas, we will be doing this again in the New Year. |
